YANINA ZAICHANKA

Yanina Zaichanka (b. 1995 in Minsk, Belarus) is a visual artist based in Norway, currently pursuing her Masters in Fine Arts at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. In her practice, Zaichanka works with such topics as trauma and healing, home and absence through an array of media that includes painting, textile, sculpture and performance.

Yanina has been actively involved in several cultural organizations and played a key role in organizing the Minsk Larp Festival and other events. She is a member of Open Forum, a student-run initiative at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.

In recent years, Yanina has participated in several art residencies, such as R22: Repression – Expression // Violence – Creative Resistance, the PRAKSIS art residency in collaboration with PRIO and Motaz Al Habbash, and the Solarpunk Campus Summer School, organized by Margrethe K. Brekke. These experiences have allowed her to connect with like-minded individuals, confront new challenges, and foster personal and artistic growth. She values these residencies as platforms for the exchange of ideas and experiences, furthering her development and education as an artist.
