The Rjukan Solarpunk Academy is a non-profit art organisation on a mission to create a new institution that our time needs. By carrying out high-quality art projects around the themes of sustainability, we intend to educate people on these matters while also integrating contemporary art into society. Most of our projects are multidisciplinary and involve a wide range of collaborators, both in Norway and internationally.
We are located at Varelager in Rjukan, Norway, which is a building full of local history. In addition to two gallery spaces, we have the only French creperie in the Vestfjorddalen valley. We are going to have more events and activities happening here during the spring of 2022, so stay tuned!
We are working on new ways to have more international collaborations. Our ongoing pilot project involves collaboration between Norway and Zimbabwe. More information coming soon.
SOLARPUNK ARTS FESTIVAL 2023
We are working on a very exciting festival concept for the upcoming years. The festival will be an artistic-academic collaboration and it will showcase the research around low-carbon energy transitions, open up questions around sustainability in new ways, all while making science more accessible. More information coming soon!
