Solarpunk`s in Residence

Since its founding in 2019, Rjukan Solarpunk Academy has explored how artistic practice can contribute to conversations about energy transition, ecological futures and social imagination. Through exhibitions, workshops, public programmes and collaborative projects, Solarpunk has functioned as an open framework for asking questions about how societies might live well within planetary boundaries.

As the project has evolved, we have become increasingly interested in the role of cultural exchange and long-term relationships in shaping these conversations. Many of the challenges associated with climate change, resource use and social transformation are global in nature, yet they are experienced differently across places, cultures and communities.

In response, RSA is developing Solarpunk in Residence as a platform for long-term and reciprocal cultural exchange. The programme seeks to create meaningful encounters between artistic practice, local knowledge, ecological thinking and lived experience across geographical and cultural boundaries.

The residency of Jaiveer Sharma marks the first pilot of this initiative. During his stay in Norway from 15 July to 8 October 2026, he will develop the concept www.trustinhumanity.in, participate in MOMENTS OF BLACKOUT at KRAFT in Bergen through FULL POWER CAFÉ, and collaborate on reflections and contributions related to the Norwegian government's ongoing Vendepunkt process.
